NXT 41

November 30, 2010 – Norfolk, Virginia

Kelly Kelly isn’t here tonight, but she sends in a video saying nice things about Naomi. Naomi says nice things back. Vickie Guerrero and Kaitlyn finally call it quits, and Kaitlyn trips Guerrero on her way out of the ring.

Season 4 of NXT is coming, and I’ll be fascinated to see if Michael Cole keeps crapping on the show, or if it was just a misogynist thing. R-Truth is going to be Johnny Curtis’s pro. Chris Masters’ rookie is Byron Saxton. Ted DiBiase’s rookie is Brodus Clay.

Brie Bella, Nikki Bella & AJ def. Aksana, Alicia Fox & Maxine
These teams don’t really make sense, since AJ basically had an unspoken feud with the Bellas on this show. This match had some good energy. AJ and Primo kiss after the match, which I guess wraps that whole piece up. Remember folks, he was in a position of power, guiding her through her career, and now he’s kissing her. Just sayin. **¼

During the match, Cole says Gordon Solie is rolling over in his grave. I agree, he’d never be as unprofessional and kayfabe-breaking as the commentators were made to be on this show. For all the crap people gave the Attitude Era and ECW for ruining the mystique of wrestling, nothing I’ve ever seen has been more damaging to the business and insulting to the fans who tuned in to watch a show than what I watched here. Never have I seen anything as unaware of what people find interesting. This has been so devoid of any ironic detachment. It has been so full of cynical, creepy, misogynistic detachment. They could have so easily made the bad wrestling and stupid contests funny by going all in on them. They could have very easily made this funnier and more interesting. I would challenge anyone upset by WWE’s women-less shows in Saudi Arabia to watch these 13 episodes of preboot-era NXT and tell me they’re at all surprised that Vince McMahon would do this. From there, I’d challenge them to ever feel any kind of emotion about WWE’s so-called women’s (r)evolution, which is at best 15 years too late to be fawned over. Fuck this company. Oh, and the match was not good. ½*

Guerrero lets us know that Dolph Ziggler will be a pro next season. His rookie is Jacob Novak. Pretty sure he’s the only person that season who isn’t currently employed with the company. Daniel Bryan is a pro too, and his rookie is Derrick Bateman. Alberto Del Rio’s rookie will be Conor O’Brian.

And then the season ends with Kaitlyn as the winner. Nobody beats her up, so that’s good.
