NXT 30

September 14, 2010 – Detroit, Michigan

Dolph Ziggler & Kaitlyn def. Primo & AJ
Ziggler is a ringer for his girlfriend Vicky Guerrero, but this is pathetic. If they didn’t have confidence in the women to carry the show (and the last episode proved that they shouldn’t) then they shouldn’t have run the show in this format. I think this is the first time a non-pro or rookie has been in a match on NXT. They could have very easily just done Kaitlyn vs. AJ here. This was actually a pretty good little match, with AJ getting to showcase her stuff and looking like a strong babyface in the process. Kaitlyn really didn’t get to do anything. She and Ziggler hug after the match, upsetting Guerrero. **½

The rookies all come out and are asked to tell a joke. Jamie wins the contest, and no prize is announced. Michael Cole has a temper tantrum and rips on the entire production. I don’t disagree but what the actual crap was the point of that?

Jamie def. Aksana
I was predicting this to be one of the worst matches I’d ever seen, but they kept it super short and simple and Aksana didn’t have a chance to embarrass everyone. ¾*

They finish with an obstacle course challenge, and I guess I must have missed it before but Matt Striker clearly says here that whoever wins the most competitions in the first few episodes gets immunity from the first elimination. That immunity has never once come into play on this show. The segment takes forever because Guerrero wants to demonstrate how to do it and just eats up a ton of time. Kaitlyn wins the challenge. Michael Cole quits to close out the show. His commentary didn’t really match his outrage on the mic.
