The Nexus is here, watching the show from the ramp opposite the NXT pros.
Mark Henry & Lucky Cannon def. The Miz & Alex Riley
This was basically just a showcase for Henry, who looked great here. Everyone else either bounced off of him or boringly beat on Cannon. After the match, Henry pours garbage on Riley, which apparently had something to do with his rivalry with the Miz and their Money in the Bank ladder match coming up. *¾
This week on Raw, John Cena was able to fend off the entire Nexus with the help of Sheamus and a pair of chairs.
Percy Watson gets to host a talk show in the ring because he won the NXT challenge last week. He brings out MVP for an interview. They have a nice, cordial conversation, but then Watson brings out the rest of the NXT rookies for a fight. MVP calls down the pros to back him up. Matt Striker comes out and suggests they settle their issues in a battle royal. Wade Barrett wants the Nexus to be involved. So are the rookies mutinying? It’s really unclear.
Wade Barrett Justin Gabriel, David Otunga, Heath Slater, Michael Tarver, and Skip Sheffield def. Husky Harris, Lucky Cannon, Kaval, Percy Watson, Alex Riley, Eli Cottonwood, Michael McGillicutty, the Miz, Zack Ryder, Cody Rhodes, MVP, Mark Henry, John Morrison, and Kofi Kingston {Battle Royal}
This wasn’t billed as a team vs. team vs. team battle royal, and wasn’t wrestled as such for the most part, but then they just decided that it was when only the Nexus remained. The Nexus starts on the floor, attacking Henry after he gets eliminated by a bunch of guys. They do the same to Cottonwood. They try to do it to MVP, but other pros get his back. With their plan screwed, they get into the match. It’s glossed over but Riley has to leave the match because of a cut on his head. With all the rookies eliminated, five of the pros square off against all six Nexus members. Miz turns on Ryder and offers to turn on the rest of the pros because of his history with Nexus in season one. They’re not having it, so Miz eliminates himself to get to safety. That whole thing took way too long. Rhodes avoids the action as Morrison and Kingston get the crap kicked out of them. Eventually, he’s the last pro in the ring. He offers a truce too but they beat him up and eliminate him. All of them are declared the winner, despite the match being sold as every man for himself. I hate crap like this so much. How hard would it have been to have the rest of the Nexus voluntarily eliminate themselves at the end to give their leader the win? It would have made him look incredibly badass and it wouldn’t have left us with this confusing ending that makes no sense. ½*
