June 15, 2010 – Raleigh, North Carolina
MVP starts the show by explaining (in as babyface a way as possible) to the rookies that they got beaten up for the crimes of their predecessors. The crowd doesn’t care. The rookies are all on board. I’m low key loving watching Kaval be more or emasculated by his pros LayCool, since the dude has no sense of humor.
Alex Riley def. Kaval
Riley could have been pretty much anyone here, as Kaval handled all the leg work here (no pun intended). Still, this was better than pretty much anything this show has produced to date, and if there had been a better transition into the finish it’d be easy to call this the best match in NXT so far. ***
Kofi Kingston & Michael McGillicutty def. Mark Henry & Lucky Cannon
They kept this real basic, and it was getting boring and chinlocky in the second half, but it sure wasn’t bad. After the match, the pros sound off on the rookies. Henry takes exception to Cody Rhodes’s comments about Cannon and says they should fight each other. Matt Striker (who is like the real life, irritating version of Michael Scott without the humor on this show) starts grilling Rhodes, so Rhodes attacks him. Shocked he didn’t become the top babyface in the company after that. **
