NXT 14

May 25, 2010 – Cleveland, Ohio

Another random six of the eight pros watch the show from the ramp with no explanation as to why the others are absent. R-Truth has won the US title from the Miz (by way of Bret Hart), but they don’t seem to be too angry with each other. I hate this show so much.

R-Truth & David Otunga def. Christian & Heath Slater
Solid match all around, but because this is NXT it was really just a bunch of singles matches happening at once because tag team wrestling doesn’t matter here. **½

Michael Cole is flanked by security in the ring. He calls out Daniel Bryan to apologize for attacking him last week. If Byran doesn’t apologize, Cole will sue him. Johnny Gargano is one of the security guards, so now we know he’s been on NXT longer than even Kassius Ohno. Bryan comes out and says that he’ll apologize, and the Cole doesn’t need security. Cole sends them away. Bryan starts to apologize, so Cole shakes his hand. Bryan doesn’t let Cole out of the handshake until security comes back as he berates him. Cole fires back with some solid points about Bryan blaming everyone for himself for getting eliminates. Then he sort of slaps Bryan and runs away. Bryan attacks him but security takes him up the ramp, but there he attacks the Miz. William Regal smiles and nods off to the side. There’s a whole easter egg storyline of Regal supporting Bryan, but I feel like they won’t pull the trigger.

Justin Gabriel def. Wade Barrett
Matt Striker replaces Cole on commentary. Gabriel was really fun to watch at this point, but Barrett was a snooze. This match split the difference. **¼

The latest Pro’s Pole is:

  1. Wade Barrett
  2. David Otunga
  3. Justin Gabriel
  4. Heath Slater

So Slater is eliminated. Christian still has Slater’s back. Miz craps on Slater. Truth is diplomatic. Chris Jericho says it didn’t matter because Barrett is going to win. Regal doesn’t say anything and I’m starting to think that he’s a ghost and nobody else can see him or hear him. This was probably the best episode of this show since the first episode, which is kind of sad.
