May 18, 2010 – Ottawa, Ontario
The show starts with the pros coming out. R-Truth and Carlito are missing, but Miz and William Regal are out there. Odd, because Miz and Regal’s rookies are eliminated, and Truth’s is still in the game. No explanation is given because this is one of the worst things WWE has ever produced. They’re going to watch the show from the ramp. Oddly, later in the hour they show a graphic with all eight pros. Why not just tell us why Truth and Carlito were gone?
Wade Barrett def. Darren Young
Barrett is still using Jericho’s entrance music even though he won his own five weeks ago on this show. At least I can take some solace in the fact that this match is the extension of something that happened on the show two weeks ago. Decent little grudge match here that ended decisively in favor of Barrett. **¼
Michael Tarver and Daniel Bryan, who were eliminated by management instead of the pros last week, are back to be interviewed. Tarver doesn’t have anything interesting or coherent to say, and Matt Striker cuts him off to stop him from talking. Bryan isn’t much more compelling, but at least makes a point that he knows he’s a draw even if management doesn’t. Then he says he’s better than the Miz. William Regal awkwardly agrees (was that supposed to happen?), and Bryan challenges Miz to a match while shutting down Striker. Then Bryan calls out Michael Cole and attacks him. Security drags him out. There’s too much going on here.
Justin Gabriel def. Heath Slater
Cole walks off the broadcast during the match. The crowd didn’t care about this after the last segment, which is too bad because it was as good as a two or so-minute match was going to be and Gabriel has a nice 450 splash. They shake hands after the match. *¾
The new Pros Pole is as follows:
- Wade Barrett
- David Otunga
- Heath Slater
- Justin Gabriel
- Darren Young
Well that’s just stupid. Slater moved up a spot from last week even though he lost to the guy who he overtook in the rankings. Sort of irrelevant as it’s Young who gets eliminated this week. Young’s parting promo is pretty messy.
