Kelly Kelly & Tommy Dreamer def. Layla & Mike Knox
This was too short to matter, but nobody did anything embarrassing and I always consider that a win in mixed tag matches. Kelly won with the Famouser on Layla after like two minutes. After the match, Knox beats up Dreamer anyway. *
Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John McCain all cut promos in the lead up to the ‘08 election (as the Democratic primaries wore on). This is so unbelievably bizarre to watch in hindsight.
Jimmy Wang Yang def. John Morrison
I wouldn’t have been mad to see this get more than three minutes, but that’s all it got. Yang won with a moonsault press. The Miz selling the devastation of Morrison’s loss on commentary was great. The match was fun while it lasted. **
Kofi Kingston def. Shelton Benjamin
This was another shorty but goody. Kingston won with the Trouble in Paradise after overcoming Benjamin’s aggressive style. **
Mark Henry def. Nunzio
This was a total squash, and a remarkably boring one given how short it was. N/A
The show is headlined by Edge (and Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder) interviewing Kane on the Cutting Edge. This goes on forever. Edge used Kane as a proxy for the Undertaker, who he was feuding with, while Kane did the same with Edge because he was about to face Edge’s “family member” Chavo Guerrero. The show ends with Guerrero and Bam Neely (the bald fella) coming out and all five of them beating up Kane’s leg with a chair.
Okay, let’s take a look at that Backlash match.

Kane def. Chavo Guerrero {ECW Championship Match}
This went about eight minutes and justified its existence by playing off of the attack on the leg from the Tuesday before. The leg work was actually really boring, and Kane just arbitrarily decided to stop selling after a while, so the whole thing felt like a drag. Kane won by absorbing a Frog Splash and hitting a chokeslam. **
