WWE ECW 82

January 1, 2008 – Richmond, Virginia

Chavo Guerrero starts the show by giving an explanation for attacking CM Punk last week that makes absolutely no sense. Punk comes out to agree that it’s dumb. Guerrero stumbles through the rest of the segment. Armando Estrada puts them in a non-title match tonight.

Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore & Kelly Kelly def. The Miz, John Morrison & Layla
This was a nice, short and energetic version of the tag match these teams have been having in recent weeks. The ladies, who are not good, didn’t do anything embarrassing here either. On the next episode, the men will face off in what is essentially a fifteen minute iron man match, which is a bastardization of both an iron man match and of Morrison’s original 15 minutes of fame concept. **½

Big Daddy V def. Colin Delaney
Tazz interviewed Delaney in the ring again before the match. This angle is trash. The match was actually more entertaining than Benjamin’s squash of Delaney, but it wasn’t like, good. N/A

Shelton Benjamin def. James Curtis
Surprise surprise, another boring squash. How is it possible they misused Benjamin like this for over a month? N/A

CM Punk def. Chavo Guerrero
This was pretty boring. Guerrero spent the match working Punk’s leg in about the most dull way possible. It led to an interesting final run to the finish, but then the finish was Punk shoving Guerrero on the floor with his legs to win by count out. What a drag. **
