WWE ECW 39

March 6, 2007 – Tucson, Arizona

Vince McMahon comes out and cuts a mush-mouthed promo, but at least he acknowledges that he’s off his game. He calls out Bobby Lashley to get an apology for… I actually can’t figure out what Lashley is supposed to be apologizing for. Lashley puts McMahon’s hand in a deathgrip and apologizes for not beating him up when McMahon slapped him. He’ll break the old man in half if he ever touches him again.

Ashley Massaro’s Playboy comes out next week. I didn’t realize they were still smutting it up in 2007. I guess we were still a few years out from Linda McMahon getting into national politics.

Hardcore Holly def. Balls Mahoney
This was a total squash for Holly, followed by a Snitsky attack. N/A

Elijah Burke interrupts a CM Punk promo and tries to recruit him into the New Breed. Rob Van Dam tells CM to stay away from those guys. RVD actually called him CM, so he’s got my vote.

Rob Van Dam def. Elijah Burke
This was a little longer than a Burke singles match should be, but with both factions at ringside they were able to keep the energy pretty high. After the match, the ECW originals challenge the New Breed to an 8-man tag match at WrestleMania. **¼

Extreme Exposé straight up uses guns as props this week. I can’t tell if this is meant to be parody or not, but it’s undoubtedly funny.

Steven Austin comes out to talk about being the referee in the Lashley vs. Umaga match at WrestleMania. He polls the audience and they all want Trump to win. Nine years later Arizona voted the same way. Austin says he’ll call the match down the middle and calls both billionaires assholes. Smart move.
