January 19, 2010 – Greenville, South Carolina
The Abraham Washington Show starts the episode with Santino Marella serving as the guest host. It’s significantly less terrible than when Washington is there. Vladimir Kozlov is his guest. Kozlov is a babyface now, and he’s foreign so he’s also goofy all of a sudden. They have fun talking about being immigrants. Marella wants to be a tag team, but Kozlov and the fans don’t want it. In true AWS fashion, the segment has no ending.
Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta def. Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu
This was a perfectly acceptable tag team match. These teams gel together well enough. The baddies won with the elevated knee strike on Goldust at 6:11. **½
Zack Ryder comes to the ring for a chat. He’s collecting nicknames and since he’s beaten Tommy Dreamer and the Hurricane, he’s now the New Heart & Soul Superhero of ECW. Hurricane runs out and attacks. Later, they hype a Vance Archer vs. Shelton Benjamin rematch on Superstars. The first match was on Superstars too. I guess those guys are members of the Superstars roster now.
Christian def. William Regal
The opening bell rang when Ezekiel Jackson was still in the ring. I can’t stand that. This got a ton of time, and it spent pretty much all of it revving up the engine and only the last couple of minutes actually driving. Christian won by disqualification at 12:00 (shown) when Jackson attacked him. Jackson and Regal kept beating him up after the match. People actually liked this match when it aired, which I think is just insane. *¾
