Zack Ryder def. Tommy Dreamer
This was the result of that weird backstage promo where Ryder was still insisting on being a heel a couple weeks earlier. This was just a standard back-and-forth match that ended when Ryder hit the Zack Attack on Dreamer for the win at 3:50. I’m not sure how that ends Dreamer’s career, as Ryder said he wanted.
The Abraham Washington Show is still sputtering along. Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta are his guests. They want to be the new and improved Miz & Morrison or Hart Dynasty. Their gimmick is that they’re best friends. Does anyone call out that Barreta & Chuck Taylor being the Best Friends is a rehash? It must have come up. Tony Atlas is touched when Washington defends him against verbal jabs from Barreta & Croft, and then wishes the crowd a merry Christmas. Again, no real ending, no real point. No fake point either… just no point.
Vance Archer def. Goldust {Semifinal Match}
It seems weird to me that they gave Archer weeks of squashes, only for him to be on defense for an entire match (albeit a very short one) against Goldust, a guy who WWE hasn’t cared about in some time. Archer won in 2:51 with the inverted DDT. *
Yoshi Tatsu def. Jack Swagger {Semifinal Match}
Earlier in the show, Swagger described the ECW Homecoming as all past vs. current ECW wrestler matches, even though half the matches so far have been between two current wrestlers. This was the first match in a while where both guys seemed to be putting in a good amount of effort. They had nice chemistry too. Swagger was able to avoid the high kick and control most of the match with power moves. But when he got confident that he was about to win after hitting a series of his signature moves, Tatsu hit the Saikyou High Kick out of nowhere for the win at 7:49. I’d watch a rematch. ***
