WWE ECW 128

November 18, 2008 – Atlanta, Georgia

The Miz & John Morrison come out to the ring for a chat. They talk about Survivor Series, because they’re in an elimination match on the show. This goes on forever. Given that nothing officially “sanctioned” by ECW is happening on that PPV card, I’m going to be skipping it and thus I don’t care about any of this.

DJ Gabriel def. Sal Rinauro
Gabriel has Alicia Fox with him, kicking off 10 years of terror. Matt Striker calls Rinauro a European competitor, so he clearly didn’t watch FIP. Gabriel won with a diving European uppercut at 1:44. Just a squash. N/A

Jack Swagger def. Tommy Dreamer {Amateur Wrestling Challenge}
The first person to get a pin or has the most points at the end of five minutes wins… but they never said how you get points for the crowd. Dreamer got disqualified at 3:35 for kicking Swagger (strikes weren’t allowed), and then he hit Swagger with the DDT. This was super dumb and crazy boring. N/A

Later on, after a Boogeyman video, Swagger storms Teddy Long’s office and insults Tiffany. That leads to a problem with Ricky Ortiz. Long comes in and books a rematch against Dreamer next week with Extreme Rules.

Mark Henry, Cody Rhodes & William Regal def. Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston & Finlay
Before the match, Striker totally devalued ECW by ignoring the Hardy vs. Henry feud and saying that the Survivor Series match the two of them are involved in exists solely to put over Batista vs. Randy Orton. Batista and Orton couldn’t be bothered to be in this match. Survivor Series has been a problem for longer than I even remembered, apparently. The opening bell rang long before the referee called for it, so they’re not even paying attention to what’s happening on this show at the moment. This match was actually a ton of fun. Regal and Finlay had a gnarly, hard-hitting exchange, and then Kingston and Hardy lit things up with their speed the rest of the time. Henry won for his team at 8:36 with the World’s Strongest Slam on Kingston. ***¼
