The show starts by advertising a triple threat ladder match featuring Rob Van Dam, Sabu, and Kurt Angle. Winner gets a shot at the Big Show’s title. Paul Heyman then tells us that Kurt Angle is hurt so he’s been medically suspended from the match. He was also medically suspended from WWE for like 11 years.
Mick Foley starts the show in the ring. He’s asked Ric Flair to join him in ECW, but Flair is at home getting ready for their I Quit match this Sunday at SummerSlam. Foley says he didn’t quit when the Undertaker tossed him off of Hell in a Cell, so he won’t quit on Sunday. Then he brings Kelly Kelly and Melina to the ring to dance with him. Okay then. Flair runs out to put an end to this boring ass segment. He hangs Foley with his belt from the post. A few years later Daniel Bryan would be fired for doing something similar but quite a bit less violent.
CM Punk def. Justin Credible
Just a squash, and an even shorter one than their last match. I believe this was it for Credible in WWE. N/A
Rene Dupree is going to prove that he’s the most hardcore wrestler to ever set foot in an ECW ring. Was Heyman really booking this trash back then?
Mike Knox & Test def. Tony Mamaluke & Little Guido
Just another squash, even shorter than the last match. Sandman & Tommy Dreamer chase the bad guys from the ring after the match. N/A
Backstage, Kurt Angle attacks Heyman’s security team. Big Show pins him down so that police can take him out of the building. He was arrested and jailed for 11 years.
Sabu def. Rob Van Dam {Number One Contender Ladder Match}
This was a spectacularly terrible match. Tazz said the quiet part out loud and called the match brutal. Sabu botched spot after spot, really overshadowing the few times that RVD tried something innovative. Also, Big Show came out and gave us a bogus finish by tossing RVD through a table, asking for the contract to be lowered, and then acted as stilts for Sabu to jump on and grab the contract. This was some WCW-level nonsense. Show beats up Sabu after the match. *

Big Show def. Sabu {ECW Championship Extreme Rules Match}
From SummerSlam. I’m pretty surprised they didn’t try to call an audible and get RVD in this match instead of Sabu after the nightmare of a ladder match he had a few days earlier. That said, he kept from outright embarrassing himself here. He did have some moderately embarrassing moments though, because you can’t deny your essential make-up. **¼
