Lucha Underground: Cross the Border

November 12, 2014 – Los Angeles, California

Konnan tells Dario Cueto that he’s bringing Fenix, Pentagon Jr. and Drago to Lucha Underground from Mexico. Ceuto decides to put them in a match against each other tonight. Konnan is fine with that as he’s still kissing Cueto’s ass.

Mascarita Sagrada def. El Mariachi Loco
As the name suggests, Sagrada is a little person. Logo is another of Cueto’s lackeys. This match is Cueto’s heelish response to the fans saying there isn’t enough lucha in Lucha Underground. I’m not sure what that means, as every match has featured luchadors or people pretending to be luchadors. Anyway, this was a short comedy match and it kept me entertained for the four minutes it lasted. Sagrada won with a choke into a roll up. Chavo Guerrero comes out after the match and beats up the little guy. **¼

Earlier in the week, Vampiro asked Guerrero why he turned evil. Guerrero said that Blue Demon Jr. had been living off of his father’s legacy, so he did what Guerreros do and put him down. The irony seems to be lost on Guerrero, who just wants to give Cueto what he wants, violence. Later, Guerrero meets up with Konnan. Konnan warns Guerrero that the way he’s been attacking lucha legends is not being well-received in Mexico, and they’re going to come for him. Then Mil Muertes appears and stares him down. Catrina lets Guerrero know that Muertas is mad that Guerrero interfered in his business last week, and then she marks him. I love this weird stuff.

Mil Muertes def. Ricky Mandel
Just a squash for Muertes. Not a bad one, though. N/A

Mr. Cisco & Cortez Castro try to keep Johnny Mundo from seeing Cuerto but he beats them up in the hallway. Mundo asks Cuerto for a match with Big Ryck. Cuerto grants it, but doesn’t appreciate the threat that Mundo is coming for him after. Ryck wants more money to fight Mundo. Cuerto gives it to him and says he wants Mundo in the hospital.

Fenix def. Drago and Pentagon Jr. {Triple Threat Match}
There was some wild action in this one, but I had a really hard time suspending my disbelief for it. There was too much indy nonsense, and way too much of Pentagon standing around waiting for spots to come his way. Points for the risks they took and the precise manner in which they executed those risks, but minus points for being so dancey-dancey about it. ***¼
