Dezmond X def. Paul London {Ancient Medallion Match}
London came into this one dressed in black. In a rare sloppy move, X’s trunks have his non-LU name Xavier on them. This was half as quick as I expected given who was in it, and the crowd was dead for it. X won in 4:15 with a Victory Roll. **
The Mack def. Dezmond X, El Dragon Azteca, Ivelisse, King Cuerno, Mil Muertes, Son Of Havoc {Battle Royal}
Antonio Cueto made this match so he could see all the Ancient Medallion holders go at it ahead of their match for the Gift of the Gods title next week, and to eliminate one of them from that match because he doesn’t like the number seven. This was a stupidly short battle royal. Muertes eliminated Cuerno, Ivelisse, X, and Azteca. That last elimination distracted him long enough for Havoc and Mack to eliminate him. Then Havoc forfeited the match to his trios partner and dove onto everyone on the floor at 1:43. It’s possible that it took you longer to read this than for it to happen. By winning, Mack got to choose who was out of the title match, and he chose Muertes because that’s a scary dude. I’m into the inevitable Mack vs. Muertes feud. Muertes beats up everyone on his way to the back. The match wasn’t much on its face, but it advanced two feuds that will last all season. *½
Vibora def. Johnny Mundo
The one thing going against this feud is that it’s two heel stables fighting each other, but on the bright side it seems like they’re leaning into it. The fans actually chant Vibora instead of Luchasaurus, so he might be getting over as a babyface. The match was going along nicely, but the Worldwide Underground came out and started cheating. Drago and Daga came out to chase them away. Vibora took control, and even took out Ricky Mundo on his way to pinning Johnny with one of the wildest chokeslams I’ve ever seen at 8:54. The gaga disrupted the flow of this a bit, but these two have good chemistry and I want to see them mix it up again. The Worldwide Underground (save for Jack Evans) attacks again after the match but Daga and Drago make the save again. Did we need that to happen twice? ***
XO Lishus is flash dancing while an angry Evans watches on. Ricky Mundo pops up and asks him why he didn’t help them. Evans reminds him that he’s afraid of snakes and Johnny said it was cool that he sits out. Rosa the doll suggests that Ricky took out Angelico and he should take out Evans too. Ricky isn’t sure that’s a good idea.
Pentagon Dark def. Cage {Lucha Underground Championship Match}
Vampiro did a good job on commentary here, knew it, and hilariously called attention to it because it was so uncharacteristic. Cage was seriously devalued here. Yeah he controlled for the bulk of this, but as soon as Dark got control he immediately was able to put Cage away with a pair of Destroyers and the Package Piledriver at 6:50. Cage tried to attack after the match but got laid out. Dark tried to break his arm but Cage powered out and hit a TKO on the title belt. The feud is now pivoting to being about whether Dark can break Cage’s arm, which is all that’s left now that he beat him so easily. **¾
