Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch def. Cezar Bononi & Adrian Jaoude
Oh my god I love these bald bastards so much. This was a really fun return for them. Bononi & Jaoude might have a little mileage as a BJJ-themed team, but they did not get much of a chance to show that while getting slapped around. **
Tommaso Ciampa comes out to cut a great promo, mostly just denying that he took out Amsterdam Black and that the NXT Championship was happy to be back in the main event at Takeover (Black’s last two title matches were not). The he leaves without incident or interruption. He has new music too, which is the biggest tragedy of all.
Shayna Baszler def. Violet Payne
I don’t review squashes. After the match, Baszler chokes out Payne twice more and nobody makes the save. Heels can do and say whatever they want unanswered tonight, apparently. N/A
In the parking lot, an argument between Heavy Machinery seems to be setting up a Ciampa vs. Otis Dozovic match. I mean no sarcasm when I say these are my two favorite NXT wrestlers and I need this match immediately.
The Undisputed Era has their eye on the War Raiders, who are cowards for only attacking them when they’re tired. And Adam Cole is going to be scouting next week’s champ vs. champ match and he’s coming for the winner.
Lars Sullivan def. Raul Mendoza
This was a fun big man-little man match, wherein Mendoza got in a few good hope spots but no near falls. I’d like to see more of Sullivan vs. Mendoza or other smaller guys. **¾
In William Regal’s office, Kairi Sane gives Kassius Ohno an alibi for the Black attack. Ohno still feels jilted, and this week makes it clear that Matt Riddle is his target. One point for me for predicting that.
Bianca Belair dco. Jesus Cross
These two have good chemistry, and Cross is just a blast to watch in general. I’m glad this feud doesn’t seem to be over. They keep fighting after the double count out and it becomes very clear (from this and the earlier Baszler incident) that they need more female refs or security for pull apart brawls since the male refs are clearly not allowed to touch the women. Oddly, the post-match here was carbon copied from a segment that Cross had with Asuka years ago. They should know that thanks to the network they really can’t reuse stuff like that. ***
Because the Cruiserweight Championship is now an NXT title I’m reviewing every title defense of the WWE/NXT Cruiserweight Championship and posting them on the NXT TV reviews that preceded them. Here’s the title defense from the 95th episode of 205 Live.

Cedric Alexander def. Drew Gulak {WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match}
Gulak called Alexander the Brock Lesnar of 205 Live, which caused Alexander to start wrestling more often (and possibly tired him out for this match). Also working in Gulak’s favor, unlike the last time they met was that Brian Kendrick & Jack Gallagher were at ringside… well, until they start interfering and get ejected four minutes into the match. There were a good five minutes of this that I didn’t need, but that might be unfair to say because the remaining fifteen minutes were really good. In particular, that suplex to the floor leading to a suplex on the floor was insane. Alexander won in 20:23 with the Lumbar Check. ***½
