Baron Corbin nc. Tye Dillinger
The match never happens because Apollo Crews comes out to attack Corbin for screwing with his NXT Championship match last week. N/A
Bayley, Zach Ryder & Mojo Rawley def. Alexa Bliss, Blake & Murphy
Why is it so often that when a referee needs to be involved in the storyline-heavy aspects of a match that the whole thing falls apart. Here, the ref was trying to keep Bayley in the ring even though she wasn’t legal in order to keep her from chasing Bliss (who had stolen Bayley’s title belt). There was no logic to that whole segment. The rest of the match was a lot of fun, though. ***
Nia Jax def. Deonna
Jax squashes people. Her pre-match backstage segment with Eva Marie doesn’t come into play. After the squash, Bayley catches up to Bliss, who is taking photos with the belt. Bliss bails on the belt, but then Alexa gets distracted by Jax backstage and Bliss attacks her from behind. And then Jax grabs the belt and thinks about being champion. NXT backstage segments are bad. Even later, they announce Bayley vs. Bliss for the title next week, which makes no sense given the result of the six-person tag match. N/A
Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder def. Aiden English & Simon Gotch {NXT Tag Team Championship Match}
Story time: I watched this during a break from watching the tag title match at NXT Takeover: London when I got a little antsy watching that match. Frankly, this was pretty disappointing. I expect more out of the Dash & Dawson. Luckily there would be a lot more good matches to come. **¼
Samoa Joe finishes out the show by explaining that he turned on Finn Balor because even though Balor told him he could have a title shot, he didn’t argue with William Regal when Regal said Joe had to win a battle royal for the opportunity. Balor comes out but referees won’t let them fight. Joe gets a sucker punch in and then chokes Balor out. This was engaging and right to the point. NXT should keep their storyline segments in the ring.
