Meiko Satomura def. Stevie Turner {NXT UK Women’s Championship Match}
I just watched Satomura dropkick a trainees face off in the Gaea Girls documentary and realized that I’d see a clip of that when I was in college. So unbeknownst to me, Satomura has been haunting my thoughts for almost 20 years. Emilia McKenzie is in Satomura’s corner. Turner held her own here but didn’t exactly impress. I wasn’t sure why she was given this title shot when there are other, more interesting people to give one to, but it seems she was mostly cannon fodder. That’s fine. Satomura made her tap to an STF at 9:01. McKenzie shows her mentor respect after the match, so we just have to cross our fingers that they get to her title match before they decide to close shop on this show. **¾
Saxon Huxley def. Eddie Dennis
That was unexpected. Dennis controlled the majority of the match, but Huxley was never on his back for too long. Huxley got a surprising win with a fireman’s carry spinebuster at 5:58. Symbiosis attacks Huxley after the match. **¼
Dani Luna def. Isla Dawn
This was all Dawn right up until the finish. Even still, it wasn’t half bad, as Dawn seemed pretty motivated to impress. But she pulled out a chunk of Luna’s hair and became preoccupied with it, allowing Luna to hit her with a fireman’s carry driver for the win at 6:45. **½
Coming up: Joe Coffey vs. Rampage Brown in a knock out or tap out match, Aiofe Valkyrie vs. Jinny in a no disqualification match with Joseph Conners locked in a cage. Those are next week, and Ilja Dragunov vs. WALTER is this weekend at Takeover,
Sam Stoker & Lewis Howley def. Tyler Bate & Trent Seven {NXT UK Tag Team Championship Match}
This match was clearly filmed at the beginning of a fresh set of TV tapings, because Pretty Deadly are suddenly sporting full ass mustaches. Nevermind, the mustaches are fake. I feel silly. But the quality of the match is real. This was fun. There was a bit less cheating from Pretty Deadly than I’d have liked, but the finish made up for it. Mustache Mountain brought the energy and Pretty Deadly brought their unique brand of smarm. The finish saw Howley throw a towel in the ring to make the referee think that Seven was forfeiting on Bate’s behalf. While Seven argued with the referee, Howley hit Bate with the title belt and then he and Stoker hit Spilled Milk for the win at 14:58. ***½
