Wolfgang def. Flash Morgan Webster
This was a step above just-a-match territory by virtue of them playing off of Webster having slapped Wolfgang to set up this match. It also looked like both guys were having fun in there. Wolfgang blocked the 450 Splash and hit a huge spear for the win at 7:31. **¾
They announce that in two weeks, Joe Coffey and Rampage Brown will finally fight in a Knock Out or Submission Match. Then, Isla Dawn is stalking Dani Luna. This counts as a match being set up by an interrupted interview. Then, Tyler Bate is excited to win the NXT UK Triple Crown by beating Pretty Deadly, and Trent Seven wants his first taste of NXT UK gold. Then, Sid Scala tells Joseph Conners that he’ll be locked in a cage for Jinny’s rematch with Aiofe Valkyrie. Jinny is mad but Conners is calm.
Amale def. Nina Samuels
I’ve seen and reviewed every single NXT UK match, and I have no memory of Samuels walking out on Amale in a tag team match. These two make no impression on me at all. I looked back and saw that they already blew off that issue, so this is actually a rematch ten months in the making. Eye roll. I hated their first match, apparently, but this one was fine. They kept it short and got through it without screwing anything up. Amale hit the Heartbreaker for the win at 4:53. No rubber match necessary though. **
We get a recap of the build to WALTER vs. Ilja Dragunov at Takeover. Then, Saxon Huxley interrupts a Symbiosis interview. I thought we were done with this interrupting crap. Then, Meiko Satomura says she’ll beat respect into Stevie Turner next week. Then, Pretty Deadly is excited to cement themselves as the best tag team in NXT UK history by beating Mustache Mountain.
Noam Dar def. Mark Andrews {Heritage Cup Rules Quarterfinal Match}
The first two rounds are nondescript. Teoman & Rohan Raja comes out to scout during the third round. Dar takes out Andrews’ leg and catches him with the Champagne Super Kneebar to win the first fall at 2:43 of the round. A one-legged Andrews catches Dar with a roll up at 1:38 of the fourth round. The fifth round is straight fire, with great counters throughout. Like Webster earlier in the night, Andrews pays for his attempt at a move off of the top when Dar takes out his leg. Dar catcalls Luna, which distracts Andrews enough for another attack to the leg, and the Nova Roller wins it for Dar at 2:39 of the fifth round. Throw out the first two rounds and you’ve got yourself a great little bop. Teoman showing up for this is dumb though, as they’re not going to do a heel vs. heel finals. ***
