Nathan Frazer def. Saxon Huxley
They’re never ever ever going to push Huxley, so I’m never convinced when he’s on offense. That said, Frazer did his best to get me out of that mode, selling like a rag doll. Huxley isn’t even bad, so I’m not sure why he never even gets a mini feud. Anyway, Frazer beat him at 6:05 with a Frog Splash. This was solid, but would have been a bigger deal of a win for Frazer if it had even been someone like Mark Coffey he’d beaten. **½
It’s time for the Supernova Sessions. Sha Samuels and Noam Dar have a tag match against Mustache Mountain next week. I’m in. But for now, Dar has Gallus on the show. They hijack his couch and force him to sit on a folding chair after kicking him off of the arm rest. Amazing. They talk for a bit about their training. Eddie Dennis interrupts, rips on Gallus for getting in the Hunt’s business, and then challenges Joe Coffey to a match. The two teams brawl as Dar eats breadsticks.
Isla Dawn def. Emilia McKenzie
McKenzie thinks she’s Toshiaki Kawada, back suplexing Dawn onto her goddamn head here. This was pretty good by Dawn’s standards, mostly because McKenzie brings an amazing energy to her matches. Dawn gave McKenzie a head drop receipt with a half nelson suplex for the win at 5:35. I guess Dawn gets a title shot after all, unless Aiofe Valkyrie is next in line. It’s hard to figure out the hierarchy here! **¾
Sam Gradwell is late for training at the Performance Center, and Dave Mastiff won’t let him in. Jinny dresses down Dani Luna because they have a match next week. Joseph Conners is also there but he doesn’t say anything. Coffey vs. Dennis is official for next week. Speaking of upcoming matches, Meiko Satomura accepts Valkyrie’s challenge.
Jack Starz def. Ashton Smith
This didn’t grab me. It was a relatively boring match that saw Smith do the same old same old to Starz (save for a gnarly lariat) and then Starz got a surprise roll up for the win at 6:00. There was a pep talk from Piper Niven mid-match, but he’s going to have to get a non-fluke win soon or this is going nowhere. **
Kenny Williams def. Amir Jordan
First off, all the credit in the world to these two for treating this match like a big deal between two guys who are furious with each other. On the other hand, this show has done next to nothing to make us care about this team, so I feel pretty whatever about the breakup. Either way, they worked snug and kept the action moving. The finish didn’t work for me though. Williams tried repeatedly to expose a turnbuckle but was thwarted by Jordan a couple times. The reason it failed is that when Williams finally did run Jordan into an exposed buckle, the referee fully saw it and didn’t react at all. Williams then hit the bulldog driver for the win at 11:31. ***¼
