Aoife Valkyrie def. Stevie Turner
Turner was Bobbi Tyler on the indies and in Japan. Her gimmick is that she’s futuristic, or at least a ‘90s kid’s idea of what a futuristic person would look like. She went after Valkyrie’s leg to start, but Valkyrie focused in and took over with high impact kicks. Valkyrie hit the Peripeteia for the win at 4:47. A bit slow, but Valkyrie looks more confident than normal. **
Jack Starz and Piper Niven meet up for a work out session. Starz wants to work out like mad, but Niven reminds him that she’s gotten pretty far in NXT UK without being a fitness freak. She wants Starz to practice being more aggressive in the ring. This is actually working for me.
Teoman def. Josh Morrell
Neither of these guys really has a look, but Teoman in particular needs to do something visually to compensate from the fact that he reeks of just-a-guy. He worked snug here; the guy is no slouch. That said, I think it’s time to push Morrell a bit, as he’s shown he has the goods quite a bit even as he’s been jobbing to guys they’re more interested in. Teoman puts on a crossface for the win at 5:24. **½
WALTER and Rampage Brown sit down with Sid Scala for an interview. It’s a pretty compelling exchange, wherein WALTER lays out his accomplishments and calls Brown a has-been. Brown wants WALTER to remember that Brown defeated him, and has been the proto-WALTER in the United Kingdom. WALTER is more charismatic than people give him credit for, he did a great job here. Then, we see Gallustrain in the gym and fight in the street.
Kay Lee Ray comes to the ring to brag about beating Meiko Satomura, one of the greatest wrestlers, male or female, in the world. Millie McKenzie comes out (did they just call her Emilia?), and surprisingly they actually acknowledge her two matches in NXT UK three years ago. Ilsa Dawn comes out and beats on McKenzie, seemingly offering her to KLR. Satomura runs out to make the save. This division just took a right turn into a good place. I am very thankful they pivoted away from Dawn being the next challenger and McKenzie coming back is sick. Johnny Saint books them in a tag team match at Prelude.
Lewis Howley & Sam Stoker def. Kenny Williams & Amir Jordan {NXT UK Tag Team Championship Match}
The champs have a double team combo now called Crossing Swords. That kind of recontextualizes their Spilled Milk finisher name. This had one hiccup when Stoker dropped Williams, but they came back from that with some high impact stuff to cleanse the palate. Pretty Deadly bumped the referee, leading to Williams insisting that he and Jordan use the title belts to cheat. Jordan wouldn’t go for it, so Williams turned on him and hit him with the belt. The champs hit Spilled Milk on Jordan for the win at 15:28. At least they didn’t wait too long to pull the trigger on the turn. ***
