January 28, 2021 – Newham, London
Jordan Devlin wants to go down in history as the greatest wrestler under 205 pounds in the company’s history. Trent Seven, who has traditionally been billed as 216 pounds, comes out to the ring. He says he’s going to trim down, get under 205 pounds, and challenge for the title. That works. Devlin thinks he needs to lose more like thirty pounds to do it, but that’s because wrestling shows inflate people’s weight all the time. Seven knocks him out of the ring.
Kay Lee Ray has asked to face the best in the world. And to no one’s surprise, Meiko Satomura has answered the call. Is Final Boss her official nickname? Because it’s great. Later, Ilja Dragunov is asked about the rage he unleashed during his match against Jack Starz. He says it was a mistake. Gradwell walked by and teased him about it. Then, Rampage Brown is interrupted by Gallus, so he challenges Joe Coffey.
Ben Carter def. Sam Gradwell
Gradwell rips Carter’s Jersey heritage before the match. Someone please address the accent. Carter is very exciting, but Gradwell did very little with his time on top. Carter picked up the win with a frog splash at 7:10. Right on, he seems like a good next challenger for A-Kid’s trophy. **½
Sha Samuels def. Josh Morrell
Samuels was seen goofing around with Noam Dar backstage earlier. He’s basically if Smee from Hook was a wrestler, but less cowardly. I guess it’s just the voice and beard. Anyway, this was just a squash, and kind of a boring one at that. Samuels won with a Cobra Clutch at 5:13. N/A
Lewis Howley & Sam Stoker def. Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews, Wild Boar & Primate, and Ashton Smith & Oliver Carter {Number One Contenders Elimination Match}
Eddie Dennis is banned from ringside. Only two guys in at a time. Pretty Deadly was able to affirm their character here. The Hunt and Flash Mandrews reignited their issues with each other. The match increased speed and intensity as it went. Pretty Deadly tried to stay out of the ring as much as possible until it came down to the final two teams. Andrews channeled Dragon Kid with some of his acrobatics. Gallus was sort of funny as spectators. Those are things I liked about this match. But the bit with all eight guys was also clunky, sloppy, and slow in a lot of parts. There was a lot of effort put into the match, and it got better as it went. Carter & Smith caught Primate with a tower Ace Crusher (after Andrews pulled Boar to the floor) to eliminate the Hunt at 12:00. Flash Mandrews nailed Smith with a reverse hurricanrana/knee strike combo to eliminate Smith & Carter at 15:11. Pretty Deadly spent a lot of time working over Andrews’ weak knee, and Dennis snuck up and attacked the knee with a chair. That was enough for Pretty Deadly to hit Andrews with the Spilled Milk for the win at 22:15. I’d be very happy to see a straight up Pretty Deadly vs. Flash Mandrews match, as their final bit was the best part and I’d like to see it again with a better finish. ***½
