December 3, 2020 – Newham, London
Rampage Brown def. Saxon Huxley
Huxley got to show off a bit in this big boy brawl before falling to a Doctor Bomb at 5:03. I feel like Huxley vs. Mastiff could be fun at this point, but Brown vs. Mastiff seems much more likely. **
Piper Niven and Jinny get into a fight at the UK Performance Center. Later, Levi Muir teases Huxley in front of Jack Starz. Look for Muir and Huxley to fight in two weeks. Later still, Pretty Deadly cut a cute but poorly framed promo saying they’re ready for a tag title shot. Someone should get one; the titles haven’t been defended in almost a year. Even later, Jordan Devlin puts out an open challenge for his title because he considers himself the Ric Flair of the cruiserweight division. The Supernova Sessions also debuts next week. I guess that means Dar won’t be the challenger. Bummer.
Aiofe Valkyrie def. Aleah James
Even as a jobber, James is clearly better than half of the NXT UK women’s roster. That includes Valkyrie, who at least looked competent in this one. But James is so sure on her feet, I wish she was on the one getting pushed. Valkyrie hit the Peripeteia at 4:10. **
Joe Coffey def. Alexander Wolfe
It surprises me zero that this was very good. It was essentially the leftovers of the Gallus/Imperium/Ilja Dragunov feud, and it held up to the quality of most of the previous matches we’ve seen from that. I mean, not the Dragunov vs. WALTER match, but nobody could or would expect that. Wolfe tried to target Coffey’s arm to neutralize his finisher, but Coffey was rabid. Wolfe was also smart enough to escape being pinned after a first AwRaBestFurThaBells, but Coffey gutted through and hit a second one for the win at 12:56. ***½
Wild Boar & Primate def. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster
Boar and Primate are the only people in the company who wear PPE. Good for them, bad for everyone else. Given the background of this match it was nice to see this start with a wild brawl. I shouldn’t have to say that, but WWE has a habit of having grudge matches start with boring lockups. This was quite good overall. Flash Mandrews got to control with their high flying antics only to be thwarted by the Hunt’s force and just the right amount of cheating from Eddie Dennis on the floor. Primate tossed Andrews into Boar’s powerbomb for the win at 10:01. I think that leaves the door open just enough for this feud to continue. ***¼
Solid back half to the show this week. I wish they’d announce a tag title match or something with WALTER because as of now, the show isn’t building to anything.
