October 8, 2020 – Newham, London
Xia Brookside & Dani Luna def. Amale & Nina Samuels
This was perfectly fine. It was a showcase for Luna, which is surprising since Amale is newer. Samuels bailed on Amale and left the match, leaving Amale vulnerable for a Brooksy Bomb/powerbomb combo from the babyfaces at 7:12. **
Ilja Dragunov wants a match against Alexander Wolfe & WALTER, and says Pete Dunne will be his partner. Duh. Later, Piper Niven isn’t impressed that Kay Lee Ray is going to address the cameras tonight.
Saxon Huxley def. Jack Starz
British Brody is a better gimmick than Philosopher Jesus, but it makes me wonder if it’s impossible for guys to get over with gimmicks that aren’t retreads of something else. To be fair, Ric Flair’s gimmick was a stolen retread, so Huxley is in good company. He won in 5:17 with an over the shoulder slam. This was a fine squash. **
Gallus is still around. Don’t forget about Gallus. Pretty Deadly hasn’t forgotten about them. They think Gallus should be scared of them. And it’s none of anyone’s business what Eddie Dennis said to them. Luna & Brookside think KLR should be careful what she says tonight.
A-Kid def. Flash Morgan Webster {Quarterfinal Heritage Cup Rules Match}
The first round was all mat wrestling until Webster hit a dropkick at the bell. They trade pin attempts in the second round and Webster gets the first pin 2:00 in. A-Kid seems frustrated, and while he controls much of the third time he doesn’t press the action enough. The round ends with Webster hitting a reverse hurricanrana at the bell. Webster comes out swinging as the fourth round starts, but A-Kid catches him with a Spanish Fly and a superkick 48 seconds in to pick up his first fall. They trade strikes as the fifth round begins. Things start moving very quickly until A-Kid dodges a Swanton Bomb and puts on the Rings of Saturn to win the match with three seconds to go in the round. This felt a little less substantive than last week’s tournament match, but was still a fun little bop. I’m very excited for A-Kid vs. Dar. ***¼
WALTER vs. Dragunov will happen in three weeks, only 179 days after it was originally scheduled. Then, we find that someone attacked Webster during the break. This is another hanging angle that hasn’t been resolved in over 150 days.
KLR comes out to say not much of anything. The whole women’s division comes out to confront her. Samuels and Amale start fighting, which sparks a roster-wide brawl. KLR tries to escape but Jinny punches her and they fight. The whole things ends with Aiofe Valkyrie diving onto everyone.
