Io Shirai def. Cami Fields
Shirai’s entrance is bizarre, as she seems to be going for a Nikki Cross in SaniTY thing but then she’s more or less calm and collected when she wrestled. This was a total squash. The gimmick is still not connecting at all, so it’s good that she really brings it in the ring. After the match, Candice LeRae saves Fields from a kendo stick beating. N/A
Kushida’a loss in EVOLVE is ignored in a video package reminding you that he still exists.
Dominik Dijakovic def. Keith Lee
This is a rematch that’s a very long time in the making. Like their first match, it was fun watching these big fellas throw each other around, but methodical enough that they had time to show a replay of pretty much every spot in the match. I thought the first match was structured a little better (this was a little overlong and slow), but this one had a wild finishing sequence and an ending that was actually satisfying. Dijakovic caught Lee with Feast Your Eyes to win the thing. There’s probably a better match to be had between these two in front of a hotter crowd. ***
They show a career retrospective for Johnny Gargano in NXT, teasing that his time with the brand is coming to an end. Shane Thorne approaches the commentary table to complain that his winning streak is a better story than Gargano’s career.
Shayna Baszler comes to the ring, but before she can say anything Rhea Ripley’s music hits. She steals Baszler’s microphone and calls her a bitch. Welp, that’s definitely a memorable way to debut on the brand.
Pete Dunne says he isn’t done with NXT UK, but he goes where he wants when he wants and right now he wants the North American Championship.
Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly def. Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford {NXT Tag Team Championship Match}
This felt like a house show rendition of their Takeover match, and it showed how much crowd heat helps the Profits feel legit. There was some fun fresh stuff between Dawkins and O’Reilly though. The Undisputed Era won the titles by hitting Total Elimination on Ford, kind of out of nowhere. The rest of the team comes out to celebrate as the show comes to an end. This makes me think that Roderick Strong is beating Velveteen Dream for his title on the first episode of NXT on USA. ***¼
