Ilja Dragunov def. Tyson T-Bone
This was a weird way to recharge Dragunov, as he spent most of the match getting beaten up. He won with the Torpedo Moskau after a few minutes, though I have to wonder why they beat him at all if they were going to reset him just two weeks later. **
Jack Gallagher phones in to ask if he or Kassius Ohno are the better wrestler, and challenges Ohno to a rematch citing Ohno’s cheating ways in their first match. They’ll fight next week on NXT UK TV. Did Ohno need to beat Dragunov for us to get here? The answer is no. I’m clearly still peeved about that decision.
Joseph Conners def. Oliver Carter
Speaking of weird decisions, last week they hyped Carter’s debut here but then they just had him get dominated by one of the least interesting fellas on the roster. So far, this episode feels like leftovers from the TV taping. Conners won with Don’t Look Down out of nowhere shortly after no-selling a Meteora. Meh. **
Cesaro says he’s coming to Takeover and he plans on being very hands-on. Then, they announce that Rhea Ripley and Piper Niven will put their feud to rest on NXT UK TV next week.
Jordan Devlin def. Kenny Williams
This was a good, fast-paced main event that gave Devlin a dominating win over a very game Williams. Devlin spent the match abusing Williams’ back, keeping the high-flyer from ever getting any extended momentum. The best moment in the match was actually probably unintentional, as Williams rolled too far back when going for a roll up and the commentators sold is as him being too desperate in his fight from behind. Devlin won with the Devlin Side. ***¼
The tag team champions close the show with an in-ring complaint session. They’re mad that the tag match at Takeover will be a triple threat. The other teams come out and everyone brawls as the show comes to an end.
