Toni Storm def. Charlie Morgan
Thank god Storm is back because this division has been drowning. Morgan looked a lot better in that tag match a few episodes back than she did here; here she looked robotic and nervous. Storm was her usual delightful self, so this squash had a bright side. N/A
James Drake & Zack Gibson def. Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews
I’m really glad that they paired Webster and Andrews, because the team is so much more entertaining than Webster on his own. This was a blast, as the Grizzled Young Veterans got to do their British-version-of-the-Revival thing, and the babyfaces got to bounce around the ring for them. Fabian Aichner took out Webster, leaving Andrews alone to attack Drake only to find that Gibson was legal and get tapped out. After the match, Aichner attacks Andrews as well. Flash Mandrews end up coming out on top. Later, Aichner says he’s going to find a partner and go after the new tag titles. ***½
Nina Samuels def. Killer Kelly
Both of these ladies come into this match with zero wins, but one gets out of the job squad tonight. Something funny was going on here, as the crowd chanted “UK wrestling” during the match, loudly. The match was solid, but one has to imagine that the crowd was encouraged to be cheer for this because they’ve been dead for plenty of matches throughout the taping. Whatever happened, it helped give these two a bit of juice to turn this very basic match into a solid little spring. **¼
Joe Coffey def. Travis Banks
Coffey looked like a killer here, absorbing Banks’s early onslaught, turning things around, and picking the Kiwi Buzzsaw’s arm apart. For his part, Banks got to channel his idol Davey Richards and unleash intense offense throughout the match. There was a weird edit when they were fighting on the second turnbuckle (I’m simultaneously annoyed and appreciative that they’d cut out a botch), but aside from that I was really thrilled with this match. Best from either guy in a WWE ring so far. ****
