Jesus Cross def. Amber Nova
Nova’s gimmick is that she likes cars… let’s reel that back, ok? She also may not be ready to be on TV, as she looked a little hesitant before her control segment. Cross, as always, is a breath of fresh air. **
Ricochet’s music hits but it’s the Undisputed Era that comes out and drops the high flyer’s limp body on the ramp. Adam Cole promises victory in Brooklyn.
Kassius Ohno def. Adrian Jaoude
I thought this would be more one-sided, but they told a fun little story about Ohno getting into a bit of trouble when he’d underestimate Jaoude. I wonder if they have plans to do anything with Ohno. *½
EC3 accepts Velveteen Dream’s invitation to hang with him in his backyard. The segment is dumb and pointless, but thankfully short, and ends with EC3 throwing Dream into a swimming pool.
Keith Lee def. Marcel Barthel
Both guys debut in NXT here, and given the fact that I haven’t watched an Indy show in a few years I’m not familiar with either. But Lee is really over with the crowd so clearly Evolve and PWG are the feds to be in if you want the Full Sail crowd’s support (duh). This was fine, just fine, but do we really need a pseudo-nazi gimmick right now? **½
Taynara Conti def. Vanessa Borne {Qualifying Match}
They keep calling this the final Mae Young Classic qualifier, but it’s the only qualifier. Everyone else just got a spot. This was… weird. Weird and bad. Conti’s outpouring of emotion felt totally unearned, and every move looked like it was going to kill both ladies. ½*
Johnny Gargano nc. Amsterdam Black
For the second time, this match doesn’t really happen. I was really digging it, and was bummed when Tommaso Ciampa came out and attacked both guys. They’re booking him so well, making him do things that actually piss me off. That said I need to see Black vs. Gargano for more than 3 minutes. All three guys fight until a gaggle of referees breaks it up. William Regal comes out and sets a triple threat title match for Brooklyn. **½
Welp, we didn’t get any bangers on this show. Luckily, a couple days later Pete Dunne defended the UK title in Chicago at PROGRESS Coast to Coast Chicago.

Pete Dunne def. Flash Morgan Webster {WWE United Kingdom Championship Match}
This match had a decent amount of stupid indy bullshit and wannabe artsy (but mostly just irritatingly out of place) camera work. If Dunne wants to reverse a dive to an armbar, he has to actually move his position. A shot of the action from too close up but also partially obscured by the turnbuckle is stupid; this isn’t a documentary, it’s a full wrestling show. I want the context of the match. Congrats on procuring cinematic-grade cameras, but I didn’t purchase your streaming service to watch a doc. What’s frustrating is that the match actually started off pretty well, but then it turned into this super strong style nonsense that it totally didn’t earn. Why is Dunne using a third version of his finisher to beat this guy? The match wasn’t long at twelve minutes, and Dunne was only in trouble for two seconds the entire match. The more I write about this the more heated I’m feeling, so I’m going to stop now. **½
