Deonna Purrazzo def. Priscilla Kelly {First Round Match}
Wow, Purrazzo is much improved since the last time I saw her wrestle. This was a blast and frankly I could have stood to watch a few more minutes of it. ***
Zeuxis def. Ariel Monroe {First Round Match}
The crowd did not like that result. Monroe had them eating out of the palm of her hand. These two seemed to be having trouble getting on the same page, but they brought the goods by sheer force of will and finished up the match with a really cool sequence. **¾
Kacy Catanzaro def. Reina Gonzalez {First Round Match}
Gonzalez is literally twice the size of Catanzaro. This is Catanzaro’s first televised match, though she’s been working with Gonzalez at house shows. And for a first televised match, this was insane. This is what happens when WWE scouts real athletes like Catanzaro and Ronda Rousey; they get great results. I’m so stoked to see her inevitable huge push. I’m also really impressed with WWE, because if this was any era in the past the finals would be Gonzalez vs. Vanessa Kraven just because they’re the biggest women in the tournament. After the match, they trade an HBK/Diesel type alliance between the two and I am HERE for this. **½
Mercedes Martinez def. Ashley Rayne {First Round Match}
About a minute into the match, Martinez hit a Storm Cradle Driver and it only got 2. That’s one of the most irresponsible things I’ve seen in a WWE match in a long time. And then of course the crowd died because there are no other moves that the company allows that could top that. If you ignore the SCD, the match technically had a good build to Martinez’s fisherman suplex finisher, but the actual content of the match was loose and sloppy. Bummer of a main event. **
