Nick Miller & Shane Thorne def. Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight
My fantasy alliance between Heavy Machinery and the Street Profits is sort of coming to fruition, as this match is happening because the big fellas are mad at how TM61 beat the Street Profits. Then the Aussies win here in the exact same way after a really fun match. I love Heavy Machinery so hard, and i’m really hoping this is leading to some kind of eight-man tag team match in which the Mighty’s victims band together to fight them and two other dudes. ***
Lacey Evans def. Kairi Sane
This was just an inch better than their match from New Orleans, and the first sign that Evans might be able to keep up with the Sanes of the world. The one-punch finisher isn’t the most creative story element in the world, but they’re making it work to some extent. I do feel like Sane was a bit devalued here though, as Evans didn’t treat her win like a huge deal. ***
Lars Sullivan def. Ricochet & Velveteen Dream {Handicap Match}
There is no doubt in my mind that all three of these guys watched Infinity War and based this match off of the Thanos fight on Titan. I mean, this was taped like two weeks after that movie came out and the parallels between the two fights are really strong. And I’m a fan of both, if that wasn’t clear. I mean, except for the part where Dream turns on Ricochet and then bails on the match at the end. That didn’t happen in Infinity War. ***½
Dakota Kai is getting a Women’s Championship match next week. Jesus Cross of all people has been trying to get her pumped up to face her fears and fight Shayna Baszler.
Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae surprise everyone by closing the show in the ring. Gargano is in a neck brace. He suggests that he and LeRae have talked about him retiring. Then he takes off the neck brace and calls out Ciampa, to the protestations of his wife. Ciampa comes out as LeRae runs to the back. She comes back out with referees to stop the fight from happening. Gargano breaks through but Ciampa knocks him off the apron and into LeRae, knocking her out cold. That’s a pretty powerful storyline element, but it also makes LeRae, this big women’s wrestling prospect, look really fragile.
Because the Cruiserweight Championship is now an NXT title I’m reviewing every title defense of the WWE/NXT Cruiserweight Championship and posting them on the NXT TV reviews that preceded them. Here’s the title defense from the 79th episode of 205 Live.

Cedric Alexander def. Buddy Murphy {WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match}
Murphy broke bad shortly after WrestleMania, attacking Alexander and then defeating Mustafa Ali on his way to this match. This was dope as hell. Is there a more underutilized wrestler than Buddy Murphy? Let this guy go to NXT UK, beat WALTER, and hold that title forever. This fantastic match saw these two throw everything they had against each other and put together some of the more innovative chains I’ve seen in some time. They had a rematch recently on Raw and it was nothing compared to this, mostly because neither of them are actually doing anything of note on the main roster. What a shame. Alexander won at 20:06 with the Lumbar Check. ****¼
