Velveteen Dream def. No Way Jose
This was pretty solid. It felt like most of the match happened during the commercial break. When WWE controls when and if commercial breaks need to happen, why would they put it over the majority of a match? **¼
Regal announces that this year, the winner of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will get a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championship. That actually did happen last time around, and the way it ends up happening this year is… weird.
Nikki Cross def. Vanessa Borne
Cross’s whole shtick is a lot of fun. Does she really need the rest of SAnitY? I feel like she and Killian Dain have outgrown the group. The match was fun for the few minutes it lasted. [Note from a few months after I watched this: I was really onto something re: Cross. Dain too, but he’s stuck with Eric Young & Alexander Wolfe it seems.] **
Andrade Cien Almas def. Johnny Gargano {NXT Championship vs. Career Match}
This was a perfectly competent match, but it just didn’t compare to their match in New Orleans. Frankly, it wasn’t even as good as their match in Brooklyn [but it was on par with their match at Full Sail]. It probably should have been overbooked to the moon since they decided to go with the nefarious finish. Go big or go home as they say, and Gargano is going home. ***½
