No Way Jose def. Cezar Bononi
This was kinda boring, really. Bononi and Fabian Aichner are both jobbing out in just about every outing. Why not just use nameless local scrubs if you must do squashes? *
Bianca Belair def. Latoya Allsop
I don’t review squashes, but this was twice as long as it needed to be. N/A
Percy Watson moderates a face-to-face interview between Ember Moon and Shayna Baszler, in which Baszler admits she was baiting Moon, and Moon says she knew it and didn’t care.
Next up is the second half of the TM61 hype video. This one focuses on Shane Thorne’s injury. NO THANK YOU! The injury does explain why the finals of the Dusty Classic that year were so bad. TM61 is going to fight on the Takeover pre-show, so we’ll see them on NXT TV next week.
Akam & Rezar nc. Chris Chase Brown & Damien Smith
The match never starts because the Authors of Pain beat up Brown and Smith before the referee can get into the ring. Rezar speaks English I think for the first time (he’s a native speaker, but the gimmick is that AOP are foreign fighters), telling the Undisputed Era that they’re finished.
Johnny Gargano def. Velveteen Dream {Number One Contender Match}
The crowd is really split here. These two have amazing chemistry. It made Gargano look like a beast for kicking out of Dream’s big-match moves, and it made Dream look like a ring technician, switching up the arm he’d use for his strikes and the Purple Rainmaker after he got hurt. Just wild stuff, and they’d have an even better match later in the year. Andrade Cien Almas comes out after the match and tries to attack Gargano, but Johnny Wrestling gets the better of him. ***¾
