September 27, 2017 – Winter Park, Florida
William Regal starts the show by announcing a four way match at Takeover that will decide the next NXT Women’s Champion. Kairi Sane will be in the match on the back of her Mae Young Classic win. Matches will happen over the next few weeks to see who else will be in it.
SAnitY comes out to the ring but all that happens is that Eric Young lets us know he’ll be facing Adam Cole tonight. This was pointless.
Lars Sullivan def. Oney Lorcan
I guess this is different than how big-men are usually pushed early on in NXT because Sullivan is steamrolling midcarders instead of jobbers. This was pretty entertaining, but I like Lorcan so it was kind of a bummer. Danny Burch saves Lorcan from further punishment after the match. **
Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight def. Demitrius Bronson & Patrick Scott
I don’t review squashes, and I think it’s time to give Heavy Machinery a non-squash match. N/A
I like Roderick Strong a lot, but he still doesn’t have the promo thing down. He cuts a really bad pre-recorded promo on Drew McIntyre from the Performance Center. Also at the PC, Amsterdam Black will only call his new adversary “Patrick,” and says he won’t give him the attention he so craves.
Liv Morgan def. Vanessa Borne
This is Morgan’s first match on TV in five months. This was fine, just fine, as I say. Morgan will seemingly get to fight in a qualifying match for the four-way now. **
Kassius Ohno def. Fabian Aichner
Pretty solid stuff from both guys here. Aichner goes on to be almost exclusively a jobber, so this was good practice for him. **¾
Adam Cole def. Eric Young
Before the match, Cole more or less calls his crew the Undisputed Era. Not much doing in the actual match, with the exception of Young choosing chaos over success by diving onto SAnitY and reDRagon instead of Cole to get the win, which allowed Cole to steal the victory. **¼
Pretty annoying episode, with 5 matches (too many) and none of them over 6 minutes (too few).
