Ruby Riott & Jesus Cross def. Royce Da 5’7 & Billie Kay
Riott apparently didn’t look for a partner because she started the match by herself, but then she is saved by our lord and savior Nikki Cross. It goes badly for Riott, which flies in the face of her wanting a handicap match in the first place, but then Cross comes in from the crowd and tags in when Riott gets a little daylight from the Iconic Duo. So then Cross wipes out the Aussies and lets Riott get the pin as she walks out. This was weird, but I like Cross so it’s mostly harmless. *
Johnny Gargano def. Riddick Moss
Three things happened here that I didn’t like. First and most importantly, Gargano was very generous with Moss here, and with what he was given Moss showed that he’s just a lunk. Second, the story of the match wouldn’t have been able to get over without the commentators, because the bit where Gargano’s submission was ineffective was poorly expressed in the ring. And third, Gargano won with a transition move after getting his ass handed to him the whole match. Not great stuff. *½
Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford def. Uriel Ealy & Gabriel Ealy
I don’t review squashes. N/A
Pete Dunne def. Wolfgang {WWE United Kingdom Championship Match}
I’d say I was disappointed in this, but really it’s hard for me to be disappointed given how average I think Wolfgang is. Also, Dunne got better as his title reign went on, and it’s not fair to compare his latter-reign stuff to earlier matches like this. Also, my main problem with this was that Wolfgang didn’t sell. The match was decent, but kind of one-dimensional. After the match, the R3dicals run out and attack Dunne. Wolfgang saves him, but Dunne walks out and leaves Wolfgang to the… wolves. The post-match angle was more interesting than the match, as it both satisfies the ROH boys following William Regal’s decree that violence only happen in the ring, and it was good character development for Dunne. ***
