Andrade Cien Almas def. Cezar Bononi
Alright, we get the picture. Almas is dangerous now that he’s not partying anymore. *½
William Regal has demanded that reDRagon and Adam Cole cannot attack anyone in the parking lot or on the ramp anymore. Violence can only occur in the ring. They’ve also been fingered in the attack on SAnitY. At the Performance Center earlier, Regal showed an interest in the team of Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan. He also denied Ruby Riott a handicap match against the Iconic Duo, but said she could find a tag partner and fight them. Why does Lars Sullivan get special treatment but Riott doesn’t? Really hypocritical to have these two segments in the same episode.
Lars Sullivan def. Alfred Watkins, Jake James & Ricky Martinez {Handicap Match}
This would have been more interesting had Sullivan faced off against all three of his former tag partners. Maybe. I don’t know actually. I don’t review squashes so it doesn’t really matter anyway. Sullivan keeps beating everyone up after the match, but No Way Jose interrupts. Sullivan lays him out. N/A
Sonya Deville def. Zeda
Seems like Zeda’s shtick is getting beaten by MMA ladies. Deville does less than nothing for me. She has no discernable personality, and the MMA gimmick hasn’t been interesting since Ken Shamrock. Shayna Baszler’s take on the gimmick is much more interesting, as it mostly eschews the tropes with the exception of how tough she is. Deville is cartoonish, which is surprising because she’s so boring. N/A
Kassius Ohno def. Hideo Itami {No Disqualification Match}
Ohno asked that this be no DQ because he assumes Itami will go for a low blow again, and he doesn’t want that to stop the match. This is Itami’s final NXT match on TV. The match was good, but not great, but the finish was great, really great. Ohno ended up being the one to hit a low blow, and it won him the match. Good, dirty fun. ***
Regal brings Asuka out to the ring. Asuka says nice things about everyone in NXT, so you know something is up. Regal announces that she’ll be going to Raw or Smackdown Live. They don’t really address her injury, which is probably for the best because she’d debut on WWE PPV before the next Takeover special took place. The roster comes out to the ramp to say goodbye to her. Ember Moon comes down to the ring and they hug. That moment felt really unearned and out of place. It’s meant to be a passing of the torch moment, but that probably should have happened at Takeover with Asuka dropping the belt in a match. Triple H comes out and trades Asuka a bouquet of roses for the title belt. Mauro Ranallo says, “No one will ever be ready for Asuka.” Vince McMahon sure wasn’t, it turned out.
