Ember Moon def. Royce Da 5’7
The camera work almost made this a 1 on the Contrived Eclipse Scale, but they caught Royce standing up straight just waiting for the thing for a moment, bumping it up to a 5. This was alright. Could have been worse. **¼
Hideo Itami apologizes to Kassius Ohno again. Ohno says he understands Itami’s frustrations, as his career has stalled too. They both need to move forward, and Ohno is going to try to do that in the main event tonight.
Alexander Wolfe & Eric Young def. Gabriel Ealy & Uriel Ealy
I don’t review squashes. N/A
Sonya Deville def. Rachel Evers
This was alright. Deville doesn’t really do it for me, but since she never ends up making it to a Takeover I’m not too worried about them overusing her in NXT. *¾
Bobby Roode insulted Roderick Strong and his present family backstage. Strong attacks him, and then Roode tells Strong he can have a title shot. Let me get this straight; Roode tells Strong he can’t have a title shot, then Roode insults Strong, then Strong predictably attacks him, and that makes Roode mad enough to give Strong a match for the title? Nope, doesn’t track. I do want to see the match, though.
Amsterdam Black def. Kassius Ohno
This is the fourth singles match that these two have had, and Black has won three of them, but he’s never defeated Ohno in the United States. I’ve never seen those matches, so I don’t know how this measures up, but this was a nice change of pace from the typical match that happens on NXT, and I like that Black won because he was just a little faster with the Black Mass than Ohno was with the Roaring Elbow. ***¼
