Dash Wilder def. Akam & Johnny Gargano {Triple Threat Match}
Wilder left halfway through the match, then comes back at the end to steal the pin on Gargano from Akam. The match was cute, and was best when all three guys were in there at first, and then again when Tommaso Ciampa and Rezar got involved at the end. **¾
Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight def. Jonathan Ortagun & Mike Marshall
I don’t review squashes, but this made me very very very very happy. Heavy Machinery is dope. N/A
They do a contract signing between Asuka and Ember Moon backstage in William Regal’s office. A change of scenery is better than nothing, I guess. Moon accuses Asuka of letting success change her. Asuka basically laughs her off. This was awkward.
Kassius Ohno def. Elias Samson
Loser leaves NXT. Bye bye Samson, I will not miss you. This was 5 minutes longer than any Samson match should ever be. Ohno smashes Samson’s guitar on his way out. That would have worked had Samson tried to attack Ohno after the match, but as it happened it just seemed callous. **¼.
I’ve decided to add in bonus matches whenever the UK Championship is defended in other companies (and there’s footage of it readily available), since the title has been more or less only defended on NXT shows and will down the road officially become an NXT branded title. This match is from PROGRESS Orlando.

Tyler Bate def. Mark Andrews {WWE United Kingdom Championship Match}
People complain that indy monsters have to tone down their move set when they get to WWE, but this match is a prime example of why that’s not a bad thing in a lot of cases. You had Bate kicking out of a Vertebreaker and that moment being given no weight; it was simply strung together as part of a series of movez. This match actually really bothered me, as it lasted for what felt like forever, moved from disparate portion to disparate portion without any reason or rhyme, and then ended with an exchange of moves that was both irresponsible and unimportant. If you’re wondering why the crowd didn’t get as loud for it as the moves used would suggest they might, it wasn’t because they knew Andrews couldn’t win the title on a non-WWE show, as forgone conclusions haven’t stopped people from suspending their disbelief before. It’s because there was no build to any of it. Bate is undoubtedly very talented, but I’m so glad he’s getting schooled in WWE because years of just having this kind of match over and over wouldn’t do him any favors. Same goes for Andrews, though he has less of an upside. **½
And because the Cruiserweight Championship is now an NXT title and I’m reviewing every title defense of the WWE/NXT Cruiserweight Championship and post them on the NXT TV reviews that preceded them, here’s the title defense from WrestleMania 33.

Neville def. Austin Aries {WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match}
While it’s really cool to see Neville defending his title in front of tens of thousands of people while the wind blows in his hair and the sun shines down on him, I wish the energy they brought to the final stretch was present throughout the match. These guys are both intense and explosive but we didn’t get that until near the end. The finish was brilliant though, seeing Aries blow through Neville with a ton of momentum, only to have his previously injured eye attacked over and over until Neville was able to hit the Red Arrow at 15:42 to retain. ***¼
