Nikki Cross def. Kennedy Lewis
I don’t review squashes, even for my lord and savior Nikki Cross. N/A
Kona Reeves and No Way Jose have a backstage interaction that makes very little sense (No Way Jose saved Rich Swann, and by extension Reeves, from SAnitY but Reeves is mad that he wasn’t more the focus of the save), and has a real FCW feel to it. So I hate it.
Roderick Strong def. Steve Cutler
Cutler cut off his badly sculpted beard, so that’s a plus. On the other hand, he’s the ambien of pro wrestling so this was very boring. At least Strong finished it with the Sick Kick, a move I named and still can’t believe people on WWE TV are saying. After the match, Strong says he’s coming for the NXT Championship. *½
Liv Morgan and Ember Moon decide to have a respectful match to help clear up who is higher in the women’s division hierarchy. Moon needs to get better at making her promos sound less scripted.
Speaking of which, Tye Dillinger comes out to the ring and does a very good job of making his scripted promo sound unscripted. He’s not sure how much more he can let down his fans as he keeps losing big matches. Eric Young interrupts and wants Dillinger to join SAnitY. Alexander Wolfe gives Sawyer Fulton’s jacket to Dillinger, but Dillinger rejects it. Could it be because that’s the American-styled jacket and Dillinger is Canadian? Young should have offered his own jacket. Young tries to speak in a logical, cultish way to Dillinger, but he goes a step too far and says he’s demanding participation, not asking for it. They attacks and Dillinger almost fights them off, but Big Damo attacks. Young gives Damo the jacket, and he accepts. I dug all that. Moments later, they announce Dillinger vs. Young for Takeover.
Nick Miller & Shane Thorne def. Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson
This was too short and yet somehow also really dull. Thorne really came out of this looking weak. The Revival attacks after the match, and Thorne is again made to look bad and needs help to get to the back. *
They announce Roderick Strong vs. Andrade Cien Almas for Takeover because Almas wants payback after getting eliminated in the four-way contender’s match.
The show wraps up with a contract signing between Bobby Roode and Shinuke Nakamura. I’m already annoyed at how long their match will have to go to make it look longer than their entrances. They trade insults and dig on each other’s mannerisms, but no violence occurs. They really do these segments way too often. Nakamura is cute though. But hey, there were fewer than ten minutes of bell-to-bell wrestling on this show. What the hell?
