Oney Lorcan def. Tye Dillinger
The final stretch was going along pretty well (after a rather boring match), but the finish was baffling. Dillinger got distracted by nothing at all and got caught with a neckbreaker. I don’t like finishes that need post-match explanations. **¼
No Way Jose def. Josh Woods
I don’t review squashes. After the match, Austin Aries comes out to the ring to thank Jose (who approached him backstage) for reminding him that NXT is about having fun. The two dance around the arena until Aries attacks Jose and then beats the crap out of him. Aries is so much better on the mic than he was when I was watching him in Ring of Honor that it’s kind of wild. N/A
Bayley def. Deonna Purrazzo
It feels like we’ve gotten all the mileage we’re going to get out of Bayley here, and Purrazzo didn’t exactly bring out the beast in Bayley in a sub-five minute match. *
Nappa Jax def. Liv Morgan
Oof, Liv got ragdolled here. So they’re building to Bayley vs. Jax. Fine, let’s just get right to it. ½*
Shinsuke Nakamura def. Buddy Murphy
This match is happening because Murphy interrupted a meeting between Nakamura and William Regal. Murphy sold like crazy for Nakamura. Give this match at least twice as much time and put it on in 2018 and it’s probably a dozen times better. As it is, it’s another main event Nakamura sprint. **½
