May 4, 2016 – Winter Park, Florida
Samoa Joe starts the show, celebrating his title win. He’ll take on any and all comers. Eric Young comes out to show that there are still American wrestlers who are mind-blowing to see on a WWE program. This is Florida, so the fans are very familiar with him. Joe doesn’t thing Young is worthy of him, but he threatens to beat him up anyway, then walks away. I guess that’s our main event tonight, as the story for Joe seems to be that his old enemies are going to be coming out of the woodwork to take the title.
Nappa Jax def. Tessa Blanchard
I don’t review squashes. N/A
Austin Aries def. Tye Dillinger
Didn’t expect much more than a squash here, but damn they actually put together a fun little match. Dillinger is pretty damn over with this crowd, and after this match probably deserves an actual program with someone. ***
Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder def. Zack Ryder & Mojo Rawley
This was all but a squash. By the transitive property, Blake & Murphy’s bad loss to the Hype Bros last week was really devastating. Let’s give the Revival something important to do, eh? *
Alex Riley cuts a very condescending promo on Shinsuke Nakamura. They’ll wrestle next week in what will turn out to be a very important match in Riley’s career.
No Way Jose def. Noah Kekoa
I don’t review squashes, but I like the audience chanting in Spanish for Jose. N/A
Samoa Joe def. Eric Young
This was simple, fun, and effective at around 10ish minutes. Young didn’t look like a geek even though Joe looked like a killer in the end. Interesting way to debut the former TNA mainstay, but definitely a good first showing for Joe as champion, and way more interesting than a squash. ***¼
