February 17, 2016 – Orlando, Florida
Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady, Jason Jordan, & Chad Gable def. Dash Wilder, Scott Dawson, Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy
I have two big problems with this match. 1) It was structured very poorly, as the heels spent the entire match getting heat on Gable before the sudden babyface comeback and win. There were no peaks and valleys just one very long climb before a sudden rush of crazy adrenaline on the way down. They could have done a lot more with the time they were given (almost 10 minutes). 2) Amore stood up when the ref had only counted two, so the match shouldn’t have ended. This isn’t the first time he’s done that, and it’s really lame. **½
Asuka def. Deonna Purrazzo
Asuka’s got herself a designated jobber. She’s approached by Emma and Dana Brooke before the match, who say Asuka beating them was a fluke. So that feud isn’t over. I don’t review squashes. N/A
Tye Dillinger def. Alex Riley
This was perfectly fine, and the right guy went over. I approve of everything that happened here. **¼
Baron Corbin asks William Regal to put him in the number one contender rematch. Corbin threatens him for the presumed theft.
Sami Zayn dpd. Samoa Joe {Number One Contender’s Match}
I was ready to complain about the finish, because it looked like while Zayn’s shoulders were on the mat that no part of Joe was on top of him. But then Joe’s hand was indeed over Zayn’s shoulder, so it was a double pin draw. This was good, with Zayn taking an incredible beating, but it was missing that extra juzz that makes amazing matches amazing. Luckily we still need a number one contender so we’ll be seeing this matchup again. ***½
