February 3, 2016 – Winter Park, Florida
Aiden English & Simon Gotch def. Zack Ryder & Mojo Rawley
Kind of surprised to see the heels go over here when the tag champs are also heels. They put in a pretty intense showing, which was nice to see from them. **½
Carmella def. Emma
A pre-match interview reveals that Carmella is a second-generation wrestler. That’s absolutely mind-blowing. In that same interview she had trouble keeping her fake Staten Island accent and slipped into her real Massachusetts accent a few times. The match was almost alright, but really quite slow. **
Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady def. Jack Hurley & Ricky Starks
Corey Graves proves he’s psychic on commentary:
Graves: How do you feel about one half of the Tag Team of the Year being a convicted felon?
Todd Phillips: What?
Graves: Enzo Amore.
Phillips: What did he do?
Graves: I dunno but he should be.
Bet on every single thing Graves says from now on. I don’t review squash matches. N/A
William Regal announces that there will be a number one contender rematch, and that Baron Corbin won’t be a part of it. Corbin ain’t happy about that.
Asuka def. Santana Garrett
I like Asuka, but that won’t make me review a squash. N/A
Finn Balor def. Apollo Crews
The first half of this match was all on the mat, mostly in headlocks from both guys, so your mileage here will probably vary based on how into that kind of thing you are. I feel medium about it. Then they went from first gear to fifth gear so fast I got whiplash, and that’s not really a compliment. It felt like there was a chunk in the middle missing from this match. Good, but not as good as their first match even with a real, decisive finish. Crews shakes Balor’s hand after the match. ***¼
