Jason Jordan & Chad Gable def. Aiden English & Simon Gotch, Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy, and Zack Ryder & Mojo Rawley {Fatal Four Way Match}
The Vaudevillains are dressed as Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who, who Rich Brennan misidentifies as Watson. I know that the Fourth Doctor isn’t a well-known TV trope in the United States, but for some reason it makes me furious that the commentators missed it. This was a ton of fun, a great way to get the crowd pumped up for the show, and at the same time symbolic of a sea change in the tag team division. The crowd loved Jordan & Gable so much, and the two of them really just tore through the other three teams to show that their level of talent is what the division will be going forward. ***½
Elias Samson def. Bull Dempsey
Can we get #FireByronSaxton trending? He calls this Samson’s debut, but Samson has not only been wrestling under this name for over a year, he’s wrestled using this gimmick recently! Squash for Samson, no review from me. N/A
Sami Zayn def. Tye Dillinger
Zayn’s return had been hyped for weeks leading up to this, to the point that I’m surprised he headlined the pre-show rather than wrestling on Takeover. Maybe it was so that Zayn could take it more or less easy. I’m not saying this was a breeze of a match, but they kept it pretty simple even though they were given enough time to turn things up a notch. That said, it wasn’t really their place on the card to go balls out, so a simple and steady match seems appropriate. ***
