Baron Corbin def. Tye Dillinger
I don’t review squashes, and that’s pretty much all that Hairline Corbin can do. N/A
Nia Jax def. Blue Pants
Pants has new music that is significantly less hype than her old music. If the goal was to get the crowd to cheer her less, it actually worked. And then Nappa Jax squashes her. Later, Jax throws Bayley through a door. In five seconds you have a more compelling segment than the entire main event last week. N/A
James Storm def. Adam Rose
This was fine, just fine, though Rose is dead in the water at this point. **
Chad Gable & Jason Jordan def. Aiden English & Simon Gotch
Gable & Jordan were never really heels, but they pretty much do a full blown face turn backstage before the match, shaking hands with the Vaudevillains. This was too short, but really fun. The Vaudevillains are much improved and Jordan & Gable are a blast in the ring. The Vaudevillains are sore losers after the match, walking out instead of shaking hands again. ***¼
Emma def. Liv Morgan
Why is there seemingly a rule that says every women’s wrestler has to work one match with a stupid name before she gets the one that will end up sticking? Morgan is well-suited to this permanent name. This was slow and boring and squishy. The goal was to make Emma look threatening to Asuka, but it just made her look threatening to my wakefulness. N/A
Dear Rich Brennan,
Yes, sometimes Corey Graves is annoying with his insults, both toward you and toward the wrestlers. But please stop cutting him off mid-sentence. Hearing you talk over each other is the most annoying thing of all.
Love,
Brad
Samoa Joe def. Tommaso Ciampa
This was fantastic, good old fashioned violence. It was far too brief, but if brief meant we got this glimpse of the Joe that I was a huge fanboy of ten years before this then I’ll take it. Did they ever do a rematch? These guys have great chemistry and if they were to do it again today it’d be a battle of the two meanest men in WWE. ***½
