June 17, 2015 – Winter Park, Florida
The show starts with a touching tribute to former NXT General Manager Dusty Rhodes, who passed away a few days earlier. Try watching that video without getting choked up.
Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady, & Carmella def. Wesley Blake, Buddy Murphy, & Alexa Bliss
That wasn’t too bad. The crowd was really into it and the action was consistently solid. And the best part about this is that the Jersey lunks can have this as their blow off victory rather than the tag titles. **¾
Kevin Owens lost to John Cena at Money in the Bank, so he hit the United States Champion with the apron powerbomb.
To make up for the fact that Hideo Itami’s spot has been filled by Finn Balor, and because they’d done such a good job with an episode and a documentary revolving around him, we get a little doc about Balor. In a really nice touch, Becky Lynch, who came up with Balor, is heavily featured and says just the goshdern nicest things about him. There’s an awesome old photo of Balor, skinny as hell, wearing a Tazz shirt. And just as I’m thinking I wish they’d shown some of his career in Japan, we learn that this is only the first half and the second half will be shown next week. I love WWE docs!
Charlotte def. KC Cassidy
This was pretty squishy squashy. Charlotte needs something more interesting to do than enhancement matches to build up to a match with Dana Brooke. Meanwhile, Brooke is still bad at promos. N/A
Samoa Joe nc. Kevin Owens
The match ends when Joe and Owens fight outside and the referee gets butthurt over getting caught in the middle. The match was kind of boring and there was no finish, so all in all it was pretty disappointing. The show ends with a pull-apart brawl that ultimately didn’t give us any resolution. Curious where they go from here, though. **½
