Charlotte def. Emma
Evil Emma kind of works. Her attack on the leg and Charlotte’s selling were pretty effective. The final stretch was a little awkward but I suppose it was meant to be given how injured Charlotte was. After the match, Bayley comes out and hits Emma with the Bayley to Belly. **½
Rhyno def. Bull Dempsey
One of the commentators says that Rhyno has gored his way through everybody in NXT, except that he lost his one and only major match. I don’t review squashes, but I’m at least happy that the Dempsey experiment seems to be over. He calls out Baron Corbin after the match. N/A
Uhaa Nation walks into William Regal’s office and signs an NXT contract. They never say his name, but they do show a video package of him walking into the Performance Center. Too easy.
Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder never happens because Blake & Murphy beat up Enzo & Cash backstage. Okay then.
Sami Zayn, who may have been injured while wrestling John Cena on Raw on Monday, sits down for an interview with Michael Cole during which he asks Kevin Owens to meet him in the ring next week and tell him why he really attacked him after his title win months ago. Didn’t we settle that this was all mind games so Owens could get at the title? Maybe not, because earlier Owens is challenged by Cole, who asked him if he would have attacked a different NXT champion to get a title match that way and Owens was evasive.
Sasha Banks attacks Becky Lynch during their contract signing. Lynch gets the upper hand and makes Banks tap. The most interesting thing about this segment was Banks using a pre-made stamp to sign her name to the contract.
Alex Riley cuts a promo in which he says the quiet part out loud, “You’re not going to be seeing Alex Riley for a while, because that’s what the people want.” I get that this was a bitter guy heel turn, but yeah, he’s not great and nobody wants to see him so just let him go.
Dana Brooke is also bad at backstage promos. So this run is going to be rough.
Hideo Itami def. Tyler Breeze
Given that nothing is on the line here and that they already blew off their feud in a 2/3 falls match, this feels like leftovers. It’s predictably here to hype the triple threat match at Takeover, so here Finn Balor comes to watch the match and eats an errant Itami kick. It’s hard for me to get invested in this knowing that Itami would get injured in a practice match at a house show and be out for a long ass time. The show ends with Breeze hitting signature moves on Balor and Itami, rendering the match even more meaningless. **¼
