NXT 260

January 21, 2015 – Winter Park, Florida

William Regal announces a tournament to figure Sami Zayn’s next challenger. The winner will get his shot at the next Takeover event, which is coming up soon. Also, Sasha Banks gets another shot at Charlotte because she pinned her last week.

Sami Zayn nc. Tye Dillinger
The match never happens because Zayn freaks out before it can start and pitches Dillinger out of the ring. He wants Kevin Owens now. Regal wants Zayn to calm down and he won’t give Owens an unearned title shot. Zayn is fine if their match isn’t for a title. Regal gives him the match at Takeover. No word on whether or not it’s for the title, and how that affects the tournament. N/A

Finn Balor def. Curtis Axel {Quarterfinal Match}
I dunno, whatever. This was fine I guess. They really haven’t let Balor do his thing yet. **¼

Charlotte def. Sasha Banks {NXT Women’s Championship Match}
The match goes like 3 minutes before Becky Lynch interferes and gets Banks disqualified. Bayley comes out to even up the odds. Charlotte isn’t particularly kind to Bayley and winds up getting hit with the Bayley to Belly. Regal comes out and books the 4 of them in a title match at Takeover. It’s pretty clear they realized earlier that day that they had a special coming up and booked it all that afternoon. *½

Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy def. Aiden English & Simon Gotch
This was middle of the road stuff, but it was great to see someone other than the Vaudevillains getting a bit of shine. In a backstage promo they challenge for the tag titles. They are not great at promos. **

Hideo Itami def. Tyler Breeze {Quarterfinal Match}
Breeze seems to think that if he’s champion, he can segment the world’s population between the gorgeous and the uggos. I’m not sure he understands what it means to be champion. And how do you like this, they finally let Itami let his skills hang out a bit, and Breeze was more than happy to go along for the ride. I’m looking forward to seeing these two beat each other up again soon. ***½
