Aiden English & Simon Gotch def. Matt Sugarman & T Perkins
Perkins is not TJ Perkins. I think it’s just a weird, one-off name for Elias Samson. I don’t review squashes. N/A
Bull Dempsey def. Xavier Woods
Alex Riley calls this Dempsey’s debut, but we’ve seen him job under this name and gimmick to Mojo Rawley and Aiden English. He didn’t even get repackaged. This was pretty decent, though the proliferation of unconvincing finishers in NXT is wild. **
Becky Lynch def. Summer Rae
As predicted, the physical fight the BFF had last week changed nothing and they’re still together here. Lynch is absurdly Irish in her debut. Like, Hornswoggle Irish. Like, Irish jig Irish. Like, if I were Irish I’d be offended Irish. This was pretty much the same as last week, as Rae gets distracted and then abandoned by the BFF and then loses. Please, please move the story forward. On a positive note, it’s a miracle and a testament to Lynch’s career so far that she was very over despite the really stupid gimmick she got saddled with. *
Colin Cassady def. Sawyer Fulton
Squash, whatever. The Legionnaires come out to attack Big Cass, but Enzo Amore returns to stop that before it can start. N/A
Adrian Neville def. Rob Van Dam
It makes so much more sense to use WWE wrestlers in this capacity than it is to bring them in to dominate midcard heels. Here, Neville gets the shine from the likes of RVD and Brodus Clay, and they get to have longer, headlining matches against the top guy about to come up. The match was hurt a bit by some of RVD’s idiosyncratic tendencies, but it was still a lot of fun to watch these guys throw their somersault offense at each other for 15 minutes. Also, Tyler Breeze was fantastic on commentary. ***½
