Konnor & Viktor def. Casey Marion & Mike Laboska
The Ascension are credited as the longest reigning NXT tag champs to date, which is really just an indictment of how crappy the division has been to this point. I don’t review squashes. N/A
Emma def. Summer Rae
Apparently this storyline bled onto Raw and Smackdown, where Emma trolled Rae. Bayley is with Emma here, helping her to continue to harass Rae. This was a step down in Rae’s performance from the previous week. It’s also been forever since the BFFs have won a match, so I’m not sure how we’re supposed to consider them a threat anymore. **
Sami Zayn and Antonio Cesaro are interviewed by Renee Young backstage. If Zayn touches Cesaro, he’ll never get a shot at the NXT Championship, and if Cesaro touches Zayn, he’ll lose his spot in the Elimination Chamber in a few days. Cesaro spends the segment talking over and bullying Zayn, trying to goad him into violence. Neither ends up attacking but it does get pretty heated. Good segment. Sidenote: there was a really well-received Shield vs. Wyatt Family match at Elimination Chamber, which really grinds my gears since neither team had a good match in NXT.
Adrian Neville def. Tyler Breeze
They kept it pretty simple here, by their standards, doing just enough to make Neville looks strong which unfortunately made Breeze look like a bit of a doofus. It was fun though, and the focus was on building up Neville for his title shot. ***
Bo Dallas comes out to the ring after the match to confront Neville. Neville gives him a free shot to hit him, but Dallas won’t let the Bo-liever facade go and opts to leave the ring. I’m not sure what that was supposed to accomplish, and it came off quite awkward.
