Antonio Cesaro def. Leo Kruger
So this was pretty weird. It was designed as if Kruger was a plucky babyface getting beaten but staying resilient for what felt like forever. My hunch is that they’re trying to transition Kruger to a babyface, and if that doesn’t happen then I don’t know what the hell this was all about. After the match Cesaro continues abusing Kruger with a diving knee to the throat. ***
Charlotte def. Santana Garrett
NXT has this annoying habit of not showing the jobbers’ names on screen. This was dull and a little sloppy, and the angle with Summer Rae and Sasha Banks coming out during the match was distracting for the sake of it and lazy writing. ½*
Now Rae and Banks shoehorn a promo in (where they don’t reference Charlotte at all) calling themselves the BFFs of NXT and saying that Banks put Paige out. But then Paige attacks, and then Emma runs out to keep things even. This had nothing to do with Charlotte (or even Bayley who was out with Charlotte), so putting this here felt pretty weird.
Mojo Rawley def. Danny Burch
Mojo seems to be Mongo on coke. I don’t review squashes. N/A
Scott Dawson & Alexander Rusev def Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy
This was fine, just fine. The heels keep attacking after the match. Logic would dictate that these two fight the tag champs now, but I bet that doesn’t happen. **¼
Rob Van Dam def. Aiden English
RVD didn’t seem particularly interested in being here, but at least he didn’t dog the thing. This match had no buildup at all, which, again, is one of NXT’s biggest issues. Just give me any reason to care about RVD facing English. Any at all. **½
